A 64-year-old bag, one charming accessory

After the end of World War II, when fashion was in the doldrums and materials were scarce, Gucci craftmakers were challenged to use resources that were still in abundance. One of those - you guessed it - was bamboo, which could still be imported from Japan.

Today, Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini continues to play with the bamboo design motif, creatively employing it on accessories as well as ready to wear in a way that has given the house classic a new, youthful spin.
