More big brands for Paragon
by Joy Fang

LOVERS of designer brands will soon have more options to get their hands on the latest luxury goods.

By September, renowned international brands Moschino, Givenchy, Marni, DKNY and DKNY Jeans will be joining the ranks of their fellow fashion big names at Orchard Road’s Paragon Shopping Centre.

The upmarket shopping mall is already home to some of the biggest designer names, such as Prada, Gucci and Jimmy Choo, Burberry and Salvatore Ferragamo.
First up, American labels DKNY and DKNY Jeans will open its doors on Thursday.

DKNY’s ready-to-wear collection will feature “an eclectic mix of Bauhaus grids, deco florals, equestrian plaids and schoolgirl kilts,” said a spokesman for Club 21, which is the distributer of DKNY and DKNY Jeans for Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Dresses will be “super short, hipslung and slim-belted”, while “intarsia knits (a technique used to create knits in multiple colours) and mohair sweaters have a generous ease”, she said. Pleated skirts will be mini, plaid or colour-blocked.

As for men, suits will have a slimmer silhouette and an edgier attitude.

DKNY will also feature lightweight wools, jerseys and an innovative system of layered, lined and reversible pieces.
Prices will start from $30 for an umbrella to $1,000 for a coat.

For DKNY Jeans, expect subculture style with studded, and sequined, dresses, ripped jerseys, slashed jeans, exposed zippers and rumpled hems. Prices range from $75 for a T-shirt to $999 for a leather jacket.

Moschino, the famous Italian fashion design house, will be opening its flagship store at Paragon in early September.

“We decided to open at Paragon because we feel that the mall is one of the most established high-end shopping malls at the central belt of Orchard Road which offers the right potential customers,” said Ms Cecilia Ong, advertising and promotions manager of Bluebell Group, the brand’s distributor for fashion apparel.

The brand is known for its lively, provocative and occasionally eccentric designs.
So expect interesting styles like animal prints transformed into a unique spotted motif, or tasteful ruffles on corseted gowns in its fall/winter collection this year.

Its Cheap & Chic range will also see items such as a washed pink, fringed bouclé jacket, a mini-dress in multi-colour patchwork pattern and a black- leather micro biker jacket.

French couture brand Givenchy’s flagship store will open in the third week of next month.

The store in Paragon will have a similar concept as the Faubourg store in Paris, and will reflect dark romanticism, and sensuality, said a spokesman for Givenchy.
The designer brand’s fall/winter collection will feature Italian fashion designer

Riccardo Tisci’s vision for men and women’s fashion.

Look out for the reversible rabbit-fur and lambskin coat with a detachable hood, the chiffon and lace blouse with lambskin collar, cuff trimmings and back scuba zipper, and velvet Bermudas.

What better way to spend the savings you’ve accumulated from GSS than to get yourself a new designer outfit?
