Gillian's appearance on TV censored

The road on which Hong Kong artiste Gillian Chung is returning to the entertainment scene is full of bumps and potholes.

Chung, a member of top Cantopop girl band Twins, had put her career on hold after her involvement in Edison Chen's sex scandal two years ago.

After a long rest, she made a comeback by releasing a single EP - Everyone Bounces Up - and starred in several movies.

But, it has not been easy for 29-year-old Chung.

Recently, Chung – together with Alex Fong, Stephen Fung and film director Jeffrey Lau – arrived in Hunan, China, to promote their new movie The Fantastic Water Babes.

The group was invited to Hunan TV’s popular show Happy Camp, a pre-recorded programme.

But when the show was broadcast on Sunday, there was no sign of Chung. Her name was also not mentioned at all.

According to China's media, the 23-minute appearance of Chung had been censored.

Not only this, the authorities also censored any mention of Chung by the guests and hosts.

The TV station has denied the interference of The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television on this matter.

Chung said she had done her best to promote the film and the result was beyond her control.
