Hong Kong media reported that Chinese actress Gong Li is divorced from her Singaporean businessman husband, Oei Hoe Seong.
A report from Lianhe Wanbao quoted Taiwan's Apple Daily which reported the divorce after the press conference to promote Gong's latest movie Shanghai, in Singapore ended on Thursday. It also said that a close friend of the couple had confirmed their separation. It quoted the anonymous friend: "They (Gong Li and her husband) have been separated more than together all these years, and have been going through divorce proceedings one year ago. The divorce is amicable and they still remain friends."
However, Hong Kong's Apple Daily reported that the couple were still married as of Thursday. It cited proof of the validity of their marriage after an online check on Singapore's Registry of Marriages. The Hong Kong tabloid speculated that the couple could be on the verge of separation instead.
These reports have led Lianhe Wanbao to speculate if Gong Li's comments that she stays in hotels whenever she is in Singapore to be indicative of her separation from her husband.
Checks with Gong Li's manager, Zeng Jun Zhao, yielded little confirmation. He evaded reporters' probes and said: "I have no idea about what goes on in my artistes' personal lives. I don't know what her marriage is like."
The reports also mentioned that Gong Li is currently staying in her own home in Shandong. However, she is still fond of Singapore and its people.
S'poreans should ask why Power Supply keep increasing the tariffs when 80% of our electricity is from Natural GAS(Very much cheaper) & they peg the tariffs to OIL prices??
Where is the rationale & transparency?? On top of this we are also saddled with additional fees in our bills plus gst!!!
when the rich marries for convenience, the ministry would not bother.
when the poor marries for convenience, the ministry would made them poorer.
that is why the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.
Believe singaporean man should know the ridculous power of the women's charter. That guy can easily go bankrupt ...
Hope the singapore citizenship is not use as an excuse to deploy the Singapore Women's Charter against the poor guy, during the process of divorce.
Then again, china turn sing girl ... odds dun favour the sing guy.
The story is basically saying yup that she separated years ago; but this seems to me to be bodoh as I thought she only got married a couple of years ago anyhow...?
*Googling furiously*
OK 1996. Sorry guys.
Let's hope so. I see hundreds of black bags with a few leaves inefficiently raked up along the side of the road, and I would hate to think they would be washed down a drain!
If anyone wants to steal my idea of suggesting that firms procure large vacuum cleaners like in The West, go ahead. I'm too lazy to whine and whinge to official channels.
If she is divorcing her Singaporean husband, there is no family here. So, she will give up her citizenship as she said she took it up because of her Singaproean family.
It is all very logical. Yes?
Of course, emotion is not logical.
Anyway, who care really if she is or is not a Citizen of Singapore?
I wish her a greater success as a Global Citizen to please her fans around the world, though I am not one of hers.
Hope you are happy with whatever choice you make - to divorce or not? to get hook up or not if you do get a divorce? etc, etc ...
Good to know today's has no rain and we can avoid the inevitability of flooding .....
