Do you want bigger-looking eyes?

There's something about a girl blessed with big doe-eyes - just imagine those wide-eyed ingenues who look so cute with their oh-so-expressive eyes. Whether it was sparked off by Japanese manga or Taiwanese starlets, you can be sure many young 'uns are looking to give their peepers a boost.

So when Diva was sent a set of CIBA Vision's FreshLook Illuminate, daily disposable contact lens that were designed to enhance Asian eyes by enlarging them subtly, you can be sure we were quite excited to try them out.

Based on the information we were sent, the contact lenses use dual-layer printing to create a "3D" lens colour effect to match the natural brown and black shades of Asian eyes, with a unique starburst pattern that blends the coloured ring into the iris for eyes that look bigger, and more distinctive.

Three our our interns, Amanda, Jee Yan and Amalina, gamely tried it out for themselves - and all of them came to pretty similar conclusions about how they looked after they put on the lenses.

While they all agreed that the contact lenses did make their eyes look bigger, they were not so sure if the look that was achieved was natural and something they would wear on a daily basis.

Check out what the three girls looked like with and without the contact lenses, and how  they felt about wearing the lenses.

Amalina: My eyes looked really weird after trying it on for the first time. The rim of the lenses made my irises look very defined and also look slightly "soul-less." Think zombies. I don't think I would try it again. But if you're into the cutesy Japanese/Korean doe-eyed look, then this is definitely for you.

Jee Yan: The enlarging effect was very effective, but I felt that I looked unnatural while wearing the contact lenses.

Amanda: It really works, but it's a bit unnatural. I think it would suit girls who like the cute-sy look.

While it took some getting used to for the girls who have never tried eye-enhancing contact lenses before, those who like the idea of bigger eyes instantly may still be keen to try these lenses for themselves.

And at $22 a box (for five pairs of contact lenses), or S$99 for six boxes from now until 31 July. Bear in mind though that the contact lenses are available for those who do not require vision correction, and power prescriptions of -0.50 to -6.00 (in 0.25 increments) and -6.50 to -8.00 (in 0.5 increments)

To help you achieve that wide-eyed look, here are some more tips:

- Line your upper lashline with black eyeliner and curl your lashes

- Apply mascara

- Highlight the inner corners of eyes with a pale or silvery eyeliner or eyeshadow.
