Fun footwear
by Cynthia Loh

Other than bags, shoes must be women's next biggest indulgence. After all, who can resist when it comes to footwear, right? We found some really neat solutions to our common shoe problems, as well as some up-to-the-minute fashion footwear.

Havaianas Launches Limited-Edition TEAMS Collection (Pictures above)

Those super-comfy Brazilian flip-flops that we love are back!

This time, they come in colours that recall the countries that will be playing in the World Cup. The TEAMS Collection have exclusive prints inspired by the colours of the 11 soccer teams' uniforms and the national flag of the countries emblazoned on two tone straps. So if any of your teams' favourites are from these countries - Brazil, Italy, South Africa, Germany, France, England, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, and Japan, you can show your support for them on your feet.

The sandals even sport gold stars to signify the number of times that country has been a World Cup champion, as well as the years in which they won. So you'll be wearing a little bit of trivia history on your feet as well.

The TEAMS Collection will be available at the h-the all havaianas store at ION Orchard, #B2-42, from this month onwards.

Spare Soles

We couldn't help but be bowled over by this nifty little idea - keep a spare pair of shoes tucked into your handbag for those emergencies, such as when heels break, or sore feet just need to rest from those towering four-inchers.

Keep spare flats handy in a pretty pouch
for days when your heels are killing you.

Spare Soles is the answer to our sore feet. Brought in to Singapore by Ms Lee Shou Yin, who had trouble finding pretty, yet comfortable shoes for her broad feet. After yet another encounter of painful blisters and bleeding caused by new heels, she searched for the solution to her problem online and found Spare Soles.

These pretty, lightweight ballet flats in various lovely colours can be folded and kept in pouches (included when you purchase a pair of the shoes).

There are three ranges available, with shoes coming in slightly different materials. Spare Soles Original and Diamond are ballet slippers with thin soles. With the upper part made of nylon and spandex, it can be bended and folded into a compact little pouch and fits feet snugly like socks. The sole is made from resin and polyester and is skid-resistant.

The other range, Soles Metro, has a slightly thicker sole made of thermo plastic rubber and an upper made of PU, and comes in a slightly bigger bag.

Shoes can be surface-cleaned or handwashed after use. The shoes are only available online at www.sparesoles.com.sg and delivery is usually made within three to five working days.

But out of stock items may take slightly longer as the stock is shipped from the US.

Pumps sell from $40 onwards.

Crocs "Almost Barefoot" Freedom

'Almost Barefoot' Collection by
Crocs is available in a range of
fun colours - perfect for a walk
on the beach, or venturing on
a day out.

I don't know of any Singaporeans who don't love their flip-flops for convenience and for the freedom it gives from restricting footwear, so it makes utter sense to me that our sandals be as comfy as they can get, while protecting feet as much as possible.

The Crocs "Almost Barefoot" Freedom collection has comfort in mind for its wearer, with an ergonomic design that's inspired by the foot's natural form. It also provides a degree of arch support.

It comes in two designs, the flip and the slide. While the flip design features fully-molded construction to assure maximum cushioning, the ABF slide has an upper strap for a more secure fit.

Retails at all Crocs concept stores from S$37.40 onwards.

Scholl Biomechanics Ball of Foot and Heel Pain Reliever Insole

Save your soles with
the Scholl Biomechanics
Ball of Foot and Heel
Pain Reliever Insole

We love our heels, but they do give us grief sometimes when we keep them on too long at times.

Wearing high heels causes the heel to be held higher than the toes, which results in the foot being held in a downwards-pointing position.

These changes in the position of the foot lead to a greater amount of pressure being exerted on the ball of foot area, which more often than not causes foot and even leg discomfort for the wearer.

Excessive pressure on the ball of foot and heel areas also leads to the development of hard skin and unsightly calluse
s.

These slim fit insoles cater to women who seek pain relief for their aching feet and legs, after spending a long day in a pair of pumps. They are more slender than your average insoles to fit pumps and heels.

The insoles retail at $42.90 and is available at Watsons, Guardian, Unity and major departmental stores.
