She's been consistently brilliant right from the start. Meet Nadine Ann Thomas, the new Miss Universe Malaysia.

Being in possession of a "package deal", the 23-year-old event and talent co-ordinator from Subang Jaya beat 17 other strong contenders in the finals, held at the Royale Chulan Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday night.

With her classic beauty, elegance, intelligence and girl power answers (“Women can do whatever they want”), the judges, headed by the pageantry’s national director and former winner, Andrea Fonseka have unanimously agreed that the crown is rightfully Nadine’s.

“Nadine has worked very hard to be here,” Andrea said. “I couldn’t be happier that she’s won.”

The ladies’ fave judge, Hans Isaac chipped in. “It’s hard for me to choose,” the actor/director/producer admitted. “The top 18 finalists are all good. But Nadine and Mourhrna (the first runner-up) have always been my personal favourites.”

As the new Miss Universe Malaysia, Nadine walks away with RM50,000 in cold hard cash. Plus prizes in kinds that include a one-year modeling contract with top Malaysian modeling agency, Andrew’s Models.

“I’m very excited. I wasn’t really expecting it,” said an overjoyed Nadine backstage. “I’m humbled and honoured by it.”

Citing that Charlene Wong (one of the top 5) was her personal pick to win the coveted title, the beauty queen added, “Charlene has what it takes to win this pageantry. She and I connect well.”

Following her win, the hip, urban, relevant and real Miss Universe Malaysia 2010 will represent our country at the Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas this August.
