Greasepan no more
by Ian Lee & Karen Tee

Q I have naturally oily skin and it often looks dull and greasy instead of dewy and radiant. What should I do so that I don’t look like a greasepan by the end of each day?

A Oily skin is actually more prone to appearing dull, says Nora Soho, a trainer at Shu Uemura, because sebum will oxidise over the course of the day, resulting in your complexion looking dull and lacklustre.

The first step towards a radiant complexion is to keep your sebum production under control. Most beauty brands have skincare ranges that are specially formulated for oily skin for just this purpose.

For a fuss-free skincare regimen, check out Shu Uemura’s newly launched Purenovate line, which includes a lotion ($58), pore perfecting solution ($88) and moisturiser ($68).

The lotion contains salicylic acid to exfoliate dead skin cells for a more radiant complexion, while the pore perfecting solution and moisturiser help to limit excess shine.

You can also apply the pore perfecting solution over your make-up to absorb excess sebum and reduce the size of open pores, suggests Soho. For a quick fix, check out Jurlique’s new Revitalising Fruit Enzyme Facial ($140) at the Jurlique Day Spa.

This pampering treatment incorporates the Australian brand’s newly launched Fruit Enzyme Exfoliator, which exfoliates skin with natural alpha-hydroxy acids from fruits. You can also buy the Exfoliator ($75) for a DIY facial.

Once you have your oily skin under control, get that glowing complexion your heart desires with a foundation that creates a dewy finish.

You won’t go wrong with cult favourite Cle De Peau Beaute’s Refining Fluid liquid foundation ($200), which beauty junkies swear by.
