Q I recently switched to a new job which requires me to wear basic make-up. I like to have little or no make-up on. What is a simple way to create a natural look with make-up?
A As you probably already know, basic make-up does not mean no make-up.
Without distractions such as smoky eyes or crimson lips, attention is sure to be focused on your complexion.
So be sure to prep with a good moisturiser to ensure that your skin is plumped up and hydrated.
To fake a flawless complexion, you need the right concealers.
To get started, Benefit has turned the art of concealing into a fuss-free affair with its limited-edition Confessions of a Concealaholic palette, containing an arsenal of quick fixes for every imaginable need.
Use the Erase Paste concealer to cover up dark eye circles. Apply the yellow-toned Lemon Aid colour correcting eyelid primer on the lids and the Eye Bright instant eye brightener on the inner corners of the eyes to make you look more awake.
There are also two shades of Boi-ing concealer to cover up various blemishes and scars. Finish off with That Gal brightening face primer to help keep your make-up budge-proof in humid weather. Then put on your favourite foundation, two coats of mascara and a lip and cheek tint like Benefit's Benetint ($64, 12.5ml) and you are good to go
If you have a good complexion, skip all that and just use a tinted make-up base to even out your skin tone.
Kose's Sekkisei Supreme range has a newly launched tinted Make-up Base SPF 25/PA++ ($60, 30ml) which helps to make pores less visible.
Or you can try Lancome's UV Expert GN-Shield BB Base SPF50/PA+++ ($78, 30ml), which is a blemish balm (BB) cream formulation.
Fans love BB Creams for their all-in-one function, from providing benefits such as UV protection and hydration properties to providing subtle coverage for the skin.
If the base gives you sufficient coverage, simply dust on a light layer of loose powder to set the look.
