Antiques Of The Orient owner Julie Yeo, whose shop is in Tanglin Shopping Centre, says her clientele is made up mostly of expatriates and tourists.
Opened in: 1972
Then: It was the second shopping centre to be built in Singapore, after People's Park in 1967, and was also Orchard Road's first mall. Described as the 'fashion centre of Singapore', it had the first-ever day hospital. An extension was built in 1981.
Now: Some of its owners are trying to push for the property to go en bloc. Meanwhile, it has become an art and antique hub that has received famous guests such as pop stars Michael Jackson and Elton John and former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
