Muscle memory snaps Gisele back into shape

What’s the noise?

Three months after giving birth, Gisele Bundchen is showing the world why she is a supermodel... and the rest of us are not. Looking trim, toned and without a hint of a stretch mark, Bundchen’s post-pregnancy bodyis gracing the cover and the pages of next month’s American Vogue magazine.

In the magazine, the 29-year-old stunner is photographed in tank tops and shorts, doing yoga poses and horseback riding. Also in the photoshoot is Benjamin Rein, her son with American footballer Tom Brady.

In the interview with Vogue, Bundchen talks about how she only gained 13.5kg during her pregnancy, and how she managed to regain her figure almost instantly, thanks to what she calls her body’s “muscle memory”.

She also described how she was up and about cooking just one day after Benjamin was born. Bundchen added: “I did kung fu up until two weeks before Benjamin was born, and yoga three days a week. “I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals. I was mindful about what I ate.”

What we say

It has become almost a rite of passage for all celebrity mummies. Have a kid, lose all the weight in double quick time and then shout about it. Reality TV star Kendra Wilkinson appeared on the cover of People magazine in a bikini weeks after giving birth to her son Hank in December last year. And Heidi Klum makes it a point to strut the catwalk at the Victoria Secrets show after every delivery, and she’s had four kids. Are these celebrities just rubbing it in our faces? The truth is, airbrushing or not, they look fabulous. And the ugly truth is, most of us are just jealous. – SetoNu-Wen

What people say

“I don’t like it when celebritiesdo this because it makes it seemas if all womenshould be in a bikini and looking perfect immediately after birth and that is not the case. It creates unrealistic expectations.” – Sarah
