Hubby didn't hurt me: Hsu

Taipei - Taiwanese TV host Dee Hsu yesterday defended her marriage against a report which said she called up a hotline for domestic violence in the midst of a marital spat.

Hsu, 31, spoke at a press conference with husband Mike Hsu, 40, the same day that Apple Daily Taiwan headlined a story saying the couple had a quarrel last month, during which she called up a women and children protection hotline.

Hsu did not name the publication but denied that she called the hotline, adding that the centre had also issued a statement to deny receiving her call, an early report on the TVBS website said yesterday.

She said they may sue, as the report had harmed them.

'We are fine,' she said. 'He did not lay hands on me. Why would he hurt me if he can't even wait to hug me?'

'My husband is the most gentle and considerate man I've ever met in my life,' she said, adding that, for them, 'one life together already isn't enough, so we won't waste more time to harm each other'.

Mike said he was angry on reading the report, which he felt was fabricated to drum up sales.

Apple Daily said their quarrel happened after she returned home late from taping her show Mr Con And Ms Csi. It cited unnamed sources as saying police confirmed being referred a case from a domestic violence centre involving the Hsus.

Hsu has always said she has a happy marriage and recently defended her husband after he was snapped on Dec 31 night with his arm round a woman.

'Am I mad? So stupid as to do that?' he had said.

They married in 2005 and have two young daughters.
