He lusts, she loves

The press conference held on Thursday morning at the Scorpio East Building where Jack Neo's production house was based was short-lived but dramatic.

While none of the reporters present were able to get their questions answered by Jack nor his wife, Madam Irene Kng, it was certainly obvious that the couple, and especially Madam Kng, were clearly distressed by the situation.

Earlier reports made mention of Madam Kng breaking down as she addressed the reporters, and fainting after she and her husband tried to move off.

In an interview which she gave to Lianhe Wanbao that was published two days ago, she tried to appear strong,  giving the impression that life still went on as normal for despite the revelations of the girls who have stepped out and revealed how her husband, Jack Neo, had flings or propositioned them.

She said that "they were fine, really fine" and that she thought of Jack "as my fifth child, who needs me when something like this happens."

In private however, the wronged wife had already collapsed under the pressure of public scrutiny.

Shin Min Daily News had published a same day interview on Wednesday with Madam Catherine Ng, Mark Lee's wife and a personal friend of the couple, in which she recounted how she had lent a sympathetic ear to Madam Kng.

Madam Ng said that the latter called her, and they later met up at the hotel Madam Kng and Jack were staying in.  Madam Ng said: "As Madam Kng spoke, she began to sob as she poured out the previous days' frustrations and pressures."

According to Madam Ng, Jack Neo's wife is a very strong person. That she had approached her for a listening ear showed that she was feeling the strain of her husband's infidelity.

Madam Ng said: "They (Jack and his wife) looked very wan, they looked like they had not been eating and sleeping well. Especially Madam Kng, who had tears swimming in her eyes, and looked as if she had just been crying."

Indeed, the frail-looking woman, who readily broke into tears as she addressed the reporters on Thursday evening did not look like she was holding up well under all that pressure. It was clear that all this bad news had taken its toll on her.
