New Year cuts
by Jacqueline Wu Boey

Lustrous waves

Before
After

THE STYLE

Slightly layered around the top with a blunt outline, lustrous waves are blown
in at the ends for a fuller, sexier effect. Deep and rich shades of brown highlights are given to complete the look.

THE MAINTENANCE

Twist the hair and dry it with a diffuser. The waves can be created by using curling tongs, heated rollers or big round brushes and a little root volumniser.

THE ADAPTABILITY

This cut can also be blown out straight to give a sleek and chic look.

Created by Hector Zhou, creative director, and Sybil Foo, artistic technician, at Kimrobinson Singapore. Tel: 6738-8006.

Make-up by Benedict Choo (9682-9590), using M.A.C.

Short and sweet

Before
 After

THE STYLE

This mushroom-shaped bob style gives the hair weight and creates a chic look. The purple highlights add to the festive mood.

THE MAINTENANCE

Simple blow-dry with a dash of moisturising cream.

THE ADAPTABILITY

Use curling tongs to curl the hair for a glamorous evening look.

Created by Shunji Matsuo, owner of Shunji Matsuo Hair Studio. Tel: 6238-1522.

Make-up by Khai (9675-9639), using RMK.

Silky curls

Before
 After

THE STYLE

An easy-to-wear style that suits all ages and face shapes. Let the hair down to allow the curls to brush your shoulders or tie up for neat alternatives.

THE MAINTENANCE

Apply overnight leave-in treatment to achieve smooth, silky hair. Use structuring paste that provides texturisation with a flexible hold to style.

THE ADAPTABILITY

Waves are versatile and can be styled in many ways. Temporary hair straightening can also be done to achieve a total change for any special occasion.

Created by Vinn Wong at Action Hair Salon. Tel: 6732-1003

Slick & Chic

Before
After

THE STYLE

The multi-texture cut creates a style that can be easily transformed to suit each individual. Copper and blonde colours dress it up.

THE MAINTENANCE

Lightly sprinkle the hair with sparkles of matt power dust for the lifting look and lock it with hairspray.

THE ADAPTABILITY

For the evening, simply prop up the back to achieve a glamorous slick look.

Created by Anneth Lau, artistic director, and Jason Wong, chief technician, at Next@Ion. Tel: 6509-0330.

Make-up by Shaun (9695-2581), using M.A.C.

Forever young

Before After

THE STYLE

A full-fringe, heavy bob length permed at the bottom for soft curls at the ends, this youthful style is suitable for all face shapes.

THE MAINTENANCE

Finish with some clay on the curls and fix with hairspray after blow-drying.

THE ADAPTABILITY

The curls at the ends make an evening style more flexible. For New Year visits, try tying it up in a ponytail to ward off the heat.

Created by Jeric See at Jeric. Tel: 6509-9709

Make-up by Khai (9675-9639), using RMK.
