A remarkable success for Diva's inaugural seminar
by Amalina Zulkefli

The inaugural Sassy Diva seminar was a rousing success with many positive and encouraging responses by participants.

The event took place on a Saturday morning on December 12, 2009 at the People’s Association Headquarters.

Everyone who attended the seminar went home with a goodie bag filled with many attractive gifts such as vouchers and hair products.

One lucky reader even won for herself a brand new Acer Netbook worth $899 when her name was picked out in the lucky draw.

Many had attended the seminar with their friends, partners or sisters. But even those who went alone like Ms Chua Lee Kim, 36, said she had thoroughly enjoyed herself.

The day began with an opening speech by Mr. Adrian Tay, editor of AsiaOne, and was followed by a series of informative talks conducted by industry experts.

The series of talks kept our readers at the edge of their seats as the experts shared tips on how to be a savvy working professional.

The first talk by Mr. Wong Sui Jau, General Manager of Fundsupermart and expert in financial planning, gave a good start to the day by sharing with readers the importance of starting early with investments and how investments can be done, by building a low risk portfolio for starters.

Following that, our readers were treated to a light brunch and during which, they were free to mingle at the exciting booths set up on that day. Our readers were kept busy with interesting activities such as nail art and jewellery making.

Keen readers were also seen signing up with Fundsupermart after being inspired by the talk. Ms Chua was one of them and she said: “I learned that it is important to start investing early and not to give yourself excuses. If you cut yourself off, you don't give yourself a chance. If you don't start, you'll never start.”

The afternoon continued with another talk by a very entertaining Ms Caline Chew, a Blood Type Diet consultant, who shared with our readers a unique diet solution which requires you to tailor your diet according to your blood type.

Finally, it came time for the most-awaited part of the day. Mr. Jon Tay, international spa and wellness educator, showed our readers some simple D.I.Y massage techniques.

The event reached a closure by lunchtime with many readers wanting to see even more of such seminars in the future.
