DIY Hair: Hang loose
by Karen Tee

EUGENE ONG (above right), 52, owner of Urban Hair by Ginrich 04-15 The Heeren

BEFORE

The look: A loose bun that looks semi-undone for an effortlessly chic look

Level of difficulty: Medium

Time needed: 15 minutes

Suitable for: Long hair

Tools needed: Redken Forceful23 hairspray, Bayliss curling tongs, from $188, both from Urban Hair by Ginrich

1 Hold a pair of curling tongs vertically and use it to randomly curl sections of hair from the tip to the chin. Use tongs about 5cm in diameter to create large waves in hair.

2 Divide hair into four sections as shown.

3 Take one section of hair, further divide it into three sections and plait it to the tip. Holding one section of the plait, use the other hand to ruch the plait towards the scalp to form a loose, messy mini-bun.

4 Twirl the remaining section of hair around the mini-bun and fasten securely with pins. Repeat steps 3 and 4 with the other three sections of hair to form a low, loose bundle of pinned up curls at the nape. Set the look with hairspray.
