How can I revive dull-looking skin?
by Hong Xinyi

Q: Long hours at work and lack of sleep have left my skin looking dull and tired. How can I rescue my complexion?

A: Unfortunately, the only surefire cure for your predicament is more rest. However, there are a few short-cuts that can fake the look of rested skin.

One of my favourites is the Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask ($104, from Sephora), which delivers oxygen and antioxidants to brighten and tighten skin for a quick pick-me-up.

It goes on as a light gel and froths quickly into a foam once it is on your skin, whereupon you can then rinse it off easily.

It is perfect for the time-starved workaholic.

Another trick is to use make-up. Highlighters are your best friend.

My favourite is Nars’ Albatross (US$25 or S$35), a finely milled highlighting powder that blends easily to give your skin a subtle, natural-looking glow.

You can buy it online at www.narscosmetics.com.

One other option is Clarins' Gold Attraction Face Palette powder ($80), which is more sparkly and more suited for nights out.

Apply highlighting powder along the bridge of nose and the ridges of the cheekbones.

Blend until the merest suggestion of shimmer is left. It leaves your face looking illuminated and fresh.
