New talent segment in Seventeen’s Queen of Queens 2009

A new talent segment has been introduced by the Queen of Queens pageant, an inter-varsity pageant organised by Seventeen. It showcases pageant winners from the four local universities – NUS, NTU, SMU and SIM.

The pageant is currently in its sixth year and has previously only judged its contestants based on their physical attributes, poise, charm and wit.

This time around the girls have one minute to showcase their talents in various fields such as through singing, dancing or playing a musical instrument.

It aims to highlight the girls' well-rounded personalities and show that the "competition is much more than just the girls' looks or their ability to answer a question," Sasha Gonzales, editor of Seventeen said.

Throughout the academic year, each university conducts its respective varsity pageant and crowns its various faculty beauty queens. Seventeen Queen of Queens brings together the year’s pageant queens from the four universities to compete for the ultimate Queen of Queens title.

The twelve girls will compete for the crown on December 11, Friday at Zirca at Clarke Quay.

Homegrown hip-hop duo Sleeq will perform their radio hits Movie Star and Ain’t About Later at the event.

Readers can vote for their favourite Seventeen Queen of Queens contestants on www.seventeen.com.sg.
