Double joy for Jiawei and hubby
by Lin Xinyi

DEPUTY Prime Minister and Singapore National Olympic Council president Teo Chee Hean and Singapore Table Tennis Association president Lee Bee Wah were among 80 guests who attended Li Jiawei's double celebration yesterday.

The national paddler held a buffet luncheon at the Marina Mandarin hotel to mark the one-month celebration of the birth of her son Terry, whose English name was chosen because it sounds like his Chinese name, Tian Rui.

The intimate gathering was also part of her wedding celebrations in Singapore.

Jiawei, 28, and her Chinese businessman husband Li Chao, had held their initial wedding celebration at a Beijing hotel in April, some seven months after registering their marriage in the Chinese capital.

Yesterday, guests were mainly from the table tennis or local sports fraternity.

'I'm delighted for Jiawei and her husband,' said Mr Teo.

'We look forward to Jiawei coming back to play full-time.'
