Playing it safe with blue
by Jeanmarie Tan

Is Amanda Seyfried trying to tell the world she’s feeling blue?

Or that she simply lacks imagination?

Just look at the 23-year-old US actress’ choice of clothing in the back-to-back promotional events for her two films, Jennifer’s Body and Chloe.

Still, one can’t blame Seyfried for playing it safe, especially since shades of sapphire on youthful-yet-sophisticated designs complement her so well.

Sexy Megan Fox naturally drew all the attention for Jennifer’s Body while her plainer co-star wound up being overshadowed.

But when it comes to red carpet looks, Seyfried was the real star.

Going from a nerd named Needy in Jennifer’s Body to a social escort seductress in Chloe, the curvy blonde admitted that she feels under pressure to look her best since she became famous and often rethinks her wardrobe choices if she knows she will be followed by the paparazzi.

She told Britain’s InStyle magazine: “For big events, I work with a stylist called Penny Lovell.

She was recommended to me by (Big Love co-star) Ginnifer Goodwin, who always looks incredible.”

Memo to Seyfried and Lovell: We’re blue in the face already. Please try another hue the next time.

1 She brought a touch of French chic to a Los Angeles mall at the Hot Topic fan event for Jennifer’s Body.

The navy cropped tweed jacket with black trim from the Marc Jacobs Resort 2010 collection looks prim and proper on its own.

But it’s simply adorable when paired with dressy black silk shorts, black pumps and bedazzling Judith Leiber clutch.

2 Who knew clashing patterns could work?

Seyfried’s Stella McCartney blue and black check wool skirt with a striped blue and black sleeveless top and Jimmy Choo Verity multistrap sandals – from the Jennifer’s Body press conference at the Toronto International Film Festival – screams casual cool.

3 She rocks the light make-up and loose waves, but I’m falling asleep just looking at this cookie-cutter teal Helmut Lang cowl-neck dress and nude Brian Atwood slingback pumps worn to the Chloe photocall at the Times BFI 53rd London Film Festival. 4 Eat this, Megan Fox. For the Chloe premiere later that night in London, Seyfried looked more sensational than Fox ever did on the Jennifer’s Body junkets in an eye-catching midnight blue sequined Stella McCartney Resort 2010 mini-dress paired with black platform heels.
