Many prominent labels started their shows with all-white ensembles but Tomas Maier put almost the entire Bottega Veneta (photo 1) collection in the pristine hue.

Maier played with the concept of peasant craftsmanship and a neutral background to allow wearers more play with brightly coloured bags and accessories.

For Fendi (photo 2), Karl Lagerfeld presented stunning, wispy ivory frocks.

Miuccia Prada, it seemed, toned down her subversive streak – she adorned an otherwise simple white Prada bathing suit (photo 3) with chandelier-type crystals.

A new term this season is “the little white dress”, thanks to Frida Giannini’s Gucci offerings with glamorous, athletic and sci-fi inspired looks.

Our favourite is the bondage-tight, multi-strapped white number (photo 4) that opened the show.
