Actress Sinje denies being pregnant and having a quickie wedding

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Kedah-born actress Lee Sinje is taken aback with talk that she is pregnant and heading for a quickie wedding.

Brushing off such talk as “mere rumours”, Lee said she understood why such talk had spread as people were eager to hear such good news.

“It is only natural for us all to want to wish others a happy ever after,” she said during a tea party held at her six-month-old I.Deas Boutique at Solaris Mont Kiara to introduce her new fashion collection yesterday.

Lee did not appear too bothered and even joked about it.

“I was even asked to send people photos of myself to prove that I wasn’t pregnant,” she said.

Talk of her being pregnant surfaced last month when she was touring India to produce a coffee table book.

Rumours of her impending marriage had been circulating ever since Lee, 33, started dating Hong Kong filmmaker Oxide Pang, 44, seven years ago.

Lee said she would not resort to secret marriages like many other celebrities.

“Marriage is a happy event that I would love to share with everyone,” she said.

The multiple award-winning actress made her name starring in the Pang Brothers production The Eye (2002), which won her three best actress awards.

Wearing a black cocktail dress and grey leather boots, Lee spoke enthusiastically about her latest projects — a fashion boutique, a coffee table book about her travels in India, and a charity concert to raise funds for handicapped children.

Lee, who is a World Vision ambassador and the co-founder of Hope Foundation, said apart from films, she would be focusing on charity fund-raisers.

“I hope that young people will be inspired to increase their involvement in charity work,” she said.

Working behind the scenes organising the Ice-cream 4U Charity Concert, Lee has been training three little girls to perform with her on stage.

“I haven’t been singing on stage for a long time. For this show, I’ll be performing with Valen Hsu and the three kids.” she said.

The concert will be held at Stadium Badminton KL in Cheras on Oct 30.
