Come this Friday, 9 October, shoppers and jewellery-hunters will be treated to a kaleidoscope of fine gems and jewellery to help them celebrate love in all its forms at the Jewel Pavilion in Ngee Ann City's Civic Plaza. With love and romance as the themes of this year's Singapore JewelFest 2009, jewellers have certainly come up with glittering - and opulent - ways to help you express your affection to all the important people in your life.
Discounts and free gifts for shoppers
More than S$120 million worth of gems on display and for sale from 36 international and local jewellers , with prices ranging in the hundreds to the millions for individual pieces.
Even if you don't have such deep pockets, you can still find yourself a gem, especially if you are on the lookout for wedding and bridal jewellery. Banks such as UOB are also giving their credit card holders discounts from 10 to 20 per cent, as well as freebies on jewellery collections - Jewel Salon and Couture Gallery - which are the two main exhibition areas at the Jewel Pavilion this year.

If you're not in the wedding way but still on a gem hunt, there are jewels to suit the occasion and recipient, from mothers, daughters, friends and even for yourself, since JewelFest is pulling out all stops to ensure there is something for everyone.

Of course, there is the exhibition's show extravaganza, a diamond choker named "Grandiosa" from Goldheart Jewelry. Retailing at $6,383,988.00, it has 135 round brilliant diamonds of one-carat each, embellished with five teardrop design of round brilliant diamond clusters and a centrepiece featuring an amazing 30-carat round brilliant diamond.
In total, the "Grandiosa" boasts a total of 369 high-calibre brilliant diamonds weighing a hefty 206.95 carats that promises to more than overwhelm its intended recipient.
Other highlights for the show this year come from the Rare Coveted Treasures Showcase presented by Piper Heidsieck.
The exhibition is divided into two main showcases, Love of Romance and Love in All Its Glory. Lovebirds can find engagement rings, wedding bands and wedding jewellery sets for their big day in the first showcase, Love of Romance, from 9 - 13 October, while other shoppers will find jewellery that is suitable for all other occasions at Love in All Its Glory, held from 14 - 18 October.
Singapore JewelFest 2009 will be held at the Jewel Pavilion, Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza from 9- 18 October. It is open daily from 12pm - 9pm. Admission is free. (Jewel Pavilion will be closed from 6pm on 9 October and 14 October for private events).
