Why so tardy, Tang Wei?

Chinese actress Tang Wei was the star celebrity who should have brought a touch of glamour to the grand opening of the Dior store at ION Orchard last Friday. However her tardiness in arriving punctually put off more than a few fans at what was an otherwise grand evening.

One guest even poured out her dissatisfaction with the Chinese actress in the online forum hosted by OMY, and described in detail how she and other guests at the event had to wait for more than an hour for the star to put in an appearance at the luxury store, reported Chinese evening daily Shin Min Daily News.

The forummer also described that she had arrived at 6pm at the store, and found that many others were already there, waiting to catch a glimpse of Tang Wei. She also wrote in the forum: "Only an international company like Dior could have been able to invite a big star like Tang Wei, and with so many people present awaiting her appearance, it only confirmed that she is indeed very popular. That's why so many people were there to take pictures of her."

According to the forummer, she was at the store at 6pm to wait for Tang Wei's arrival. Some guests had thought the actress would make an appearance at 6.30pm, but she did not show up at that time. The report on Shin Min also reported the forummer as saying that the actress finally made her appearance at 7.45pm.

The actress, who wore a black silk polka-dotted Dior dress from the label's current Autumn/Winter collection, made an appearance that lasted a mere 10 minutes. She also did not apologise for being late to the other guests. From the time she appeared in the store to officiate at the opening ceremony to the time she left, she stayed only for a short 10 minutes.

The forummer also wrote that movie buffs who turned up especially for the actress's appearance were visibly disappointed. She also expressed her thoughts on Tang Wei's less-than-impeccable manners, and thought the latter should drop any haughty movie star airs if she wanted to retain her fans' support.

She wrote: "Although I'm not Tang Wei's fan and I have not watched her movie Lust, Caution, a successful actress and brand spokesperson should have a good character and personality to enjoy the continued support of her fans. She really should drop her 'movie star' attitude."

According to earlier reports, Tang Wei had left Singapore the next day after attending the opening ceremony at Dior.
