Celebrity artiste Patricia Mok has come under fire again - this time for her perceived arrogance and nonchalant behaviour over in a local Chinese variety drama talkshow.
In the show, Patricia was asked about the apparent fallout that she had with then mentor, Jack Neo. She tried to play down the bad blood between them, but broke down and shed tears when shown a clip of her stint on one of Jack's variety entertainment shows, where she was relegated to the supporting role of a cheerleader. She also denied that she had 'celebrity airs' when queried by the show hosts, Quan Yifeng and Guo Liang.
However, Patricia did say that she was very unhappy with MediaCorp as she felt that the company did not fulfil its obligations towards her contract. She revealed during the show that she had "shamelessly" tried to prove herself when she first joined Jack Neo's popular variety act, but was not given a meatier role in a subsequent production.
Now, a reader has a bone to pick with another of Patricia's comment on the show.
A Stomp reader, Pants on Fire, posted: "I caught the Channel U show at 8pm on 22nd July 2009. It was an interview by the hosts, Guo Liang and Quan Yifeng with Patricia Mok.
"The question that comes about is: With all due respect, is Ms Patricia Mok fit to be an artiste, considering that she is a role model on the screen for many impressionable teenagers?
"On the show, her desperate attempt to paint a beautiful picture of herself, coupled with lies that were being exposed by the host, Mr Guo, speaks volumes about her integrity.
"In instances where she was being exposed, she would say that she 'could not recall' or that 'it was a joke'.
"On topics pertaining to her bad behaviour in situations that she was involved in previously, she also nonchalantly commented that she cannot be bothered with apologies.
"She said she saw no need to apologize for the mistakes and the unruly comments she had made."
The STOMP reader then asked if this was a correct attitude for a popular and public personality to adopt, before questioning what message Patricia was trying to convey, before adding that it would be appropriate for the artiste to adopt a humble attitude and admit to her mistakes, no matter how minor they were.
Totally Disgraceful
It always pays to be humble ....
Pat, you need to carry yourself well, now even more, otherwise you are going to end up in the bottom 5% of all the artiste in Mediacorps.
Don't be a fool yourself instead. You are just holding yourself too high thinking you are almost perfectionist. Celebrities are also human being, for goodness sake. They are just doing their own jobs and get paid as per normal salary man.
