Splash fest
by Rebekah Lin

If you fancy splashing around with your toddler during the holidays to cool down, here are some water parks you can consider bringing your water babies to. Depending on the kind of play you're looking to have, there are both free and pay-per-admission to look out for.

Sengkang Sports & Recreation Centre
Where: 57 Anchorvale Road; tel: 6315-3576
What: There are competition pools, two teaching pools, jacuzzi and eight slides here. Kids can have fun on the tunnel slides, and a huge water bucket will dump its watery contents on you. Also experience "rainfall" at the umbrella shower fountains.
When: 8am-9.30pm (Tue to Sun), closed every Monday except public holidays.
How much: $2 (adult), $1 (child)

Jurong East Swimming Complex
Where: 21 Jurong East Street 31, tel: 6565-2297
What: There is a spiral and more tunnel slides at this joint! A kiddy pool with mini slides and obstacles to climb amid the water jets, and a slow water ride on doughnut-shaped floats called lazy river will entertain kids too.
When: 8am-9.30pm (Tue to Sun), closed every Monday except public holidays
How much: $2 (adult) $1 (child)

Rainforest Kidzworld

Where: 80 Mandai Lake Road, Singapore Zoological Gardens, tel: 6269-3411
What: Besides slides, water bucket features and a wading pool, there are also interactive spray jets which you can control. Don't miss the tugboat water feature. Also check out the animal exhibitions.
when: 8.30am to 6pm daily
How much: Zoo admission prices: $18 (adult) $9 (child)

Wild Wild Wet
Where: 1 Paris Close, Wild Wild Wet, tel: 6581-9135
What: With raft rides, flume rides and slides aplenty here. Brave the rapids on the Ular-lah, and slide through edgy curves and thrilling turns at Waterworks, a high-speed flume ride. At 335m, the Shiok River circles the perimeter of the park. If you like waves and undercurrets, visit the Tsunami.
When: 1pm to 7pm (Mon-Fri) 10am-7pm (weekends and school holidays), closed Tuesdays
How much: $15.50 (adult), $10.50 (child); $42 (2 adults and 2 children)

The Play Court
Where: Harbourfront Halk, Vivocity, tel: 6377-6860
What: This play area works like three giant basins. Kids can also hop over to the dry playground with Mummy keeping an eye at the side.
When: Daily, unless there's an event

Clarke Quay Play Area
where: Central Atrium, Clarke Quay, tel:6337-3292
What: Like the Bugis Junction fountain, this pumps water from the ground before squirting it out in intervals! Kids can even splash around at night when it is illuminated by night lights. Bring a towel and a change of clothes - there are no showering facilities on the compound.
When: Daily, unless there's an event

Marine Barrage
Where: 260 Marina Way tel: 6514-5959
What: Get a clear view of the city skyline here. The little ones can play around a physical map of the Marina Catchment. Partly sheltered by a green roof, it has water pump facilities and sprays.
