The star was said to have had a change of heart when rumours of his late April wedding were leaked to the press in February this year.

According to Oriental Sunday, Lau denied the marriage rumours and even asked Chu to leave his mansion in the upscale district of Kadoorie Hill, Hong Kong.

The Taiwanese media reported that many believe Chu had been the “invisible woman behind the successful Andy Lau” for the last 24 years. It was rumoured that the elders in Chu’s family were no longer supporting of Chu’s informal relationship and had requested Lau to formalize their union.

However, things soured between the couple when the press started questioning Lau about is wedding plans, which reportedly angered the star.

The Hong Kong media were informed of the news when pictures of Lau and Chu in Malaysia supposedly making wedding plans were brought to the attention of the press.

The Chu family were also said to be celebrating the upcoming wedding, and Lau was said to have given his girlfriend’s father a S$1,500,000 mansion as a gift.

A guest list was also said to have been drafted for the big day, which was to be held in end April, after Lau’s concert tour is over.

Hong Kong reporters spotted Chu on April 29 at Tung Lo Wan, when a white car said to belong to Andy Lau’s assistant appeared in the vicinity. Chu, dressed in plain-looking clothes and dark-rimmed glasses, was about to get into the car when she spotted the press photographers.

According to the Hong Kong press reports, Chu then abandoned the car and tried hailing a taxi. However, the taxi driver thought that his very flustered fare was the victim of a robbery and did not want to take her for fear of being implicated. It was only after much explanation before the driver finally listened to Chu and drove off.

Reports of the incident also speculated that Chu was so nervous upon seeing the press because she was afraid that such encounters would only make Lau angry.
