Fashion notes for men
by Cynthia Loh

Times may be bad, but the guys still need to keep up in the looks department. So why not invest in some classics that will give you more mileage for your dollar? Here are some of Diva's suggestions.

Classic Khakis

Khakis will hardly go out of style and is a favourite for its versatility as comfortable casual wear that will not make you look too sloppy.

The limited edition K-1 Pant with its vintage tailoring details such as a specially developed dense, two-ply yarn twill weaved from original vintage 33" looms from the 1940s and 50s, a wax seal on the inside pocket as a 'stamp of authority' and  authenticity, as well as other classic tailoring techniques such as a crotch gusset, back singe and suspender buttons, button-fly and replicas of vintage buttons and buckles, these khakis are as good as classic.

Dockers will launch its 2009 limited edition K-1 Pant in May 2009. 500 pairs will be available in Singapore.

Reader's opinion: The material felt a little thick. But I guess that’s the compromise if you want durability. Fortunately, I found that it doesn’t cause any discomfort in Singapore humid climate.  Besides the rather interesting colour (it looks a bit orangy to some) it has some details that make the pants attention-grabbing – a back singe & suspender buttons.

Preppy shoes

Take care of the details, and by that, we mean pay attention to your shoes.

You will need that one smart-looking pair that is comfortable enough to take you through your day, and we like this one from Timberland.

The sporty-looking Sevilla also has another plus factor - comfort. It comes equipped with a 5 mm memory foam chassis for instant comfort, while its dual-density cushioning feature spreads impact force and absorbs shock to combat wear and tear from men’s typical high levels of physical activities and movements.

The Sevilla is available from Timberland in March 2009. Retails at $179.

For the masculine man

Scent adds depth to a man's dressing.

Giorgio Armani's Attitude Extreme offers a spicy-woody fragrance with top notes of lemon, star anise and cardamom. Heart notes of coffee-cedar, incense and amber offer mystery and base notes of ambergris and patchouli add sensuality.

Attitude Extreme Eau de Toilette (50ml) retails at $96.

GIVEAWAY: Redeem a free Attitude Extreme fragrance vial 1.5ml per person when you visit the Giorgio Armani Attitude Extreme roadshow at Bugis Junction from April 24 - 30 with a print-out copy of this article.

When you spend $120 at the roadshow, receive a Giorgio Armani grooming pouch and an Attitude Extreme deluxe miniature (5ml). With a minimum $160 spending, receive a Giorgio Armani beach towel on top of your other gifts.
