Christopher Lee looking forward to being dad

Christopher Lee is not nervous about stepping into his new shoes as fellow actress Fann Wong's new husband, and he is very much looking forward to being a father.

Speaking to my paper at a press conference, he said: I'm very happy - not nervous at all. We are both (referring to himself and Fann) very relaxed!"

Earlier this week, the celebrity couple announced that they would be registering their marriage on May 16.

They decided to bring forward the wedding date after Christopher's father passed away in February earlier this year.

According to Chinese custom, a couple planning to get married would have to do so within 100 days of a death of a family. If not, they will have to wait for another three years.

Christopher said: "After my father passed away, we thought it was inappropriate to talk about the wedding. But now that the funeral is over, we should let the past be the past. It's no good to drag the wedding plans on for too long. We should quickly get married and have kids.

"It's a pity that he won't be around to witness it."

He hopes that his upcoming marriage to Caldecott princess Fann Wong will prompt his siblings to follow in his footsteps.

Talking about his aging grandmother and sickly mother, he said: "Of course I wish the best for their health. However, my brothers are still bachelors. I will be the first to get married and I hope I'll be able to set an example for them."

Chris told the Chinese freesheet that they have not decided on the venue for their wedding registration.

"It won't be at the Registry of Marriages. It may be at home, a hotel or a club," he said, adding that his relatives from Malacca would be coming over to Singapore for the registration.

"We'll all go for a meal after the registration. It won't be a lavish one because the actual ceremony will be on September 29."

Chris said the wedding preparations will be handled by celebrity hairstylist David Gan as both Fann and himself will be busy with work.

"I will take part in the preparations once I'm done with filming," he said.

He added that the theme of their wedding would be romantic with white as its main colour.
