DISTINCTION

EMMY ROSSUM, A

Tony Awards in New York City, US

Gown and shoes: Ralph Lauren

So pretty! Glamorous, graceful and gorgeous, the US actress is having a style moment in this slinky liquid silver silk halter gown featuring a truly exquisite knotted textured bodice.

OLIVIA MUNN, A-

Gyus Choice Awards in Los Angeles, US

Top and skirt: J. Mendel

Clutch: Monica Rich Kosann

Shoes: Brian Atwood

The US sexpot didn't actually win anything at the Guys Choice Awards, but Munn's definitely my choice for best-dressed at the event - and she didn't even have to flash any cleavage for it. She sizzled despite wearing a conservative forest green silk halter top and leather asymmetrical pencil skirt expertly paired with gold accessories.

PASS

JENNIFER LOPEZ, B+

Opening ceremony of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Sao Paulo, Brazil

Bodysuit: Charbel Zoe

Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Say what you want about JLo's World Cup theme song performance (or even singing partner Pitbull's controversially tight, high-waisted, cropped white capri pants), but you can't deny the US pop diva gets hotter with age as she sparkles from head to toe here.

This skimpy, beaded and fringed emerald green leotard - paired with embellished gold tights and matching ankle booties - is the perfect carnival-esque stage costume befitting the occasion.

ROSE BYRNE, B

Women In Film Los Angeles 2014 Crystal + Lucy Awards in Los Angeles, US

Jumpsuit: Max Mara

Clutch: Rauwolf

Aside from the over-long trousers, the petite Australian actress pulls off this love-it-or-hate-it silver metallic strapless one-piece - only because it fits like a glove and the shiny lame material isn't giving me bad Studio 54 flashbacks.

KATE MARA, C+

Tony Awards in New York City, US

Dress: Dolce & Gabbana

It's a miracle Mara can walk or sit in a frock that looks like it weighs as much as her. Why would any self-respecting Hollywood actress want to add extra pounds to her fame? The LBD is overly-embellished with leftover Christmas tree tinsel and those padded quarterback shoulders are just ridiculously huge.

RIHANNA, C

Clara Lionel Foundation charity T-shirt launch event in Paris, France

Jacket, skirt and boots: Azzedine Alaia

Your eyes aren't deceiving you - RiRi is wearing actual clothes. And covered up in black leather. In the summer heat. The Barbardian pop star is going for a tough biker chick vibe, but this is disappointingly normal after her CFDA Fashion Awards naked dress.

SARAH JESSICA PARKER, D

amfAR Inspiration Gala New York 2014 in New York City, US

Dress: Schiaparelli

Why does the US actress always insist on dressing like a teen when she's hitting 50? This floaty polka-dot chiffon number could've been adorable on a Disney starlet. But what we're getting here is a walking midlife crisis.

MILA KUNIS, D

Premiere of Third Person in Los Angeles, US

Dress: Not known

Being pregnant is no excuse to slack off on the red carpet - which is why the US actress may officially be the celebrity mum-to-be with the laziest maternity style. Was it that hard to find something better than this nondescript loose garbage bag-esque black satin slip dress? It looks super comfortable, but save it for the bedroom.

FAIL

MINDY KALING, F

Fox's Girls night out event in Los Angeles, US

Dress: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Shoes: Saint Laurent

Chubby girls should never wear dizzying optical prints. Sorry, that's just a fact. This mint and black long-sleeved retro shift dress is playful, but I'm not having a lot of fun looking at the US actress in it. It doesn't help that Kaling's make-up artist clearly hates her.
