The skinny jeans trend is tiring me out
by Hong Xinyi

Q: The skinny jeans trend is tiring me out. Practically everyone is wearing them but I don't want to be like everyone else. Is it all right for a woman to wear men's jeans?

A: Of course it is. In fact, putting loose, slouchy men's jeans on women is one of the hottest denim trends right now, with celebs from Victoria Beckham to Heidi Klum spotted in such styles.

Known as the boyfriend cut, this type of jeans has the same appeal as the boyfriend shirt or boyfriend sweater - an alluringly oversized garment that looks as if it has been pinched from your sweetheart's wardrobe.

Paired with a smart, fuss-free top a la Posh and Heidi, the boyfriend jeans are just as hip as - if not more so than - the ubiquitous skinny jeans.

Paul Khor, owner of multi-label boutiques Wooonderland and Actually..., advises that you choose slim-cut, low-rise men's jeans if you are going for a boyfriend cut so that they won't look too baggy on you.

Try the Edwin 503 and 502 cuts, which are priced from $190 to $240, or the Terence and Cash cuts (Picture 3) from the Dr Denim label, which range from $159 to $169 (both brands from Wooonderland).

The Riley Boyfriend Fit jeans ($549) from cult American denim label Citizens of Humanity are cute too, and are available at the Bread & Butter boutiques.
