Ms Viola Tan, 29, is business development director of local fashion label Love, Bonito. She is single and lives in a condominium in the East with her three-year-old toy poodle, Canon.
'My work requires quite a bit of travel to places such as China, Bangkok and Paris. I am away at least one or two weekends a month, so when I am in Singapore, I devote weekends to friends and family.
On Friday nights, I typically meet my friends for dinner.
I've really taken to tapas lately, so tapas bars such as Esquina in Jiak Chuan Road or Sabio on Duxton Hill are my favourites. If we are up for drinks after dinner, we will walk around the area and see what looks good. I'm home at 1 or 2am. If I'm not tired, I do a bit of reading. I am currently reading The Fault In Our Stars by John Green, a real tearjerker. Or I'll put on an episode of a TV show, such as Criminal Minds or Grey's Anatomy. I like staying up as late as I can to prolong the weekend. I go to sleep no earlier than 3am on Fridays, knowing that I can sleep in on Saturday mornings.
On Saturdays, I wake up between 11am and noon. The first thing I do is read The Straits Times with an espresso. Coffee is a very important part of my life. I have been stocking up on French food brand Bonne Maman madeleines from Paris, which go well with my coffee.
If I'm not in the mood to go out, my friends might come over. I can't cook, so it is usually a potluck affair. My friends and I enjoy nice wine and champagne, and I bring bottles back when I travel, so we sit on my patio to drink and chat.
I might visit my friend and business partner Rachel Lim, 26, the operations director of Love, Bonito. She also lives in the East. We travel a lot together and have gotten into the habit of exercising together. We might go for a 30- to 45-minute run in East Coast Park. If not, I try to exercise in the afternoon, such as swimming in my condominium pool, heading to the gym or taking Canon for a long walk in the park.
Saturday nights, I have dinner with my friends at around 8pm. I like the Ann Siang Hill area because the roads have been pedestrianised on weekends. We bar hop or hang out at my apartment and drink until about 3am.
On Sundays, I wake up by noon and my parents come over after they have gone to church. We will go out for lunch, usually to a place my mum selects. Lately, we have been heading to Quayside Isle on Sentosa, where there are a number of good cafes and restaurants, such as Sabio By The Sea and Brussel Sprouts, or the W hotel for high tea.
Then we will walk around and enjoy the atmosphere of the area. Depending on how long we stay, we may have dinner there or head back to my apartment to watch a movie on TV.
On Sunday evenings, I try to be home early to prepare for the work week ahead. I have a glass of wine to unwind, read my book or prepare for meetings, and make sure I have my outfits for fashion events. I'm a night owl: Even if I try to sleep by midnight, I toss and turn until 1am before falling asleep.
