Wreck it like Cyrus

US - A giant pendulum in Michigan, US, has fallen victim to the antics of Miley Cyrus.

The sculpture, which has been a part of Grand Valley State University's large public art collection for 40 years, was removed from the campus after students sought to replicate Miley Cyrus' racy Wrecking Ball music video.

It was designed by acclaimed large-scale sculptor Dale Eldred, the Daily Mail reported.

A student-run GVSU Twitter account quoted a dean saying: "The ball has been taken down due to the safety hazard of people riding on it."

Students were upset after authorities decided to take away the pendulum.

The Los Angeles Times reported that a large group staged a protest on Tuesday night outside Padnos Hall, chanting "Wrecking ball! Wrecking ball!"

The students stripped naked in some of the videos, just as Cyrus did in her video.

The Cyrus video was directed by controversial photographer Terry Richardson, who is known for shooting Kate Upton's curves and who counts Lindsay Lohan as a muse.

In it, she straddles a wrecking ball, licks a sledgehammer and even smashes up a few walls.
