Accidental dads

Terence Cao

Everyone was shocked last October when a Shanghainese woman, Miss Shi Mei, claimed that her then 19-month-old daughter was fathered by the local actor.

The pair apparently had a one-night stand after meeting at a party in Shanghai.

A subsequent DNA test confirmed the 45-year-old as the dad, but the pair quibbled for a few months over how much he would pay her in child maintenance monthly before settling on a $600 monthly sum, according to Chinese newspaper Lianhe Wanbao.

Hugh Grant

A bashful, romantic guy on-screen, British actor Grant, 52, never did find long-lasting happiness with his many celebrity girlfriends (Elizabeth Hurley, Jemima Khan and more), until he had an unplanned baby girl with Chinese model-actress Hong Tinglan in 2011 after a "fleeting affair".

The girl's Chinese name, Xiao Xi, even translates to "happy surprise".

The couple followed up with a son, Felix Chang, this past February.

Jude Law

After having three children with ex-wife Sadie Frost, Law, 40, had an unplanned fourth - daughter Sophia - in 2009, with US model Samantha Burke.

The pair had a brief relationship in 2008, and the news got Law scuttling for a lawyer and a paternity test. He's apparently paying £5,000 (S$9,700) in child support to Burke, but has not reunited with her.

Steven Tyler

All he could talk about when he was an American Idol judge was how much he loved the ladies, so are you really surprised that the 65-year-old Aerosmith rocker has gone through baby mama drama of his own?

The baby, of course, is actress Liv Tyler who, until the age of nine, thought her dad was rocker Todd Rundren.

She was later told the truth bya her former Playboy Playmate mum Bebe Buell, who had a tryst with Tyler back in 1977.
