Jiang Nan Da Dao, or Guangzhou's Wedding Gown Street, is lined with stores selling wedding gowns, cheongsams, tea sets, decorations and various other wedding paraphernalia.

2.HONG KONG
Kimberley Road in Tsim Sha Tsui is also known as Wedding Gown Street by the locals, according to the Hong Kong Tourism Board. Various shops offering different services - from clothes to decorations to photography - line the street. Golden Plaza (745-747 Nathan Road, Prince Edward, Hong Kong) is also famous for being a wedding-themed mall for its variety of wholesale and budget wedding essentials.

3.BANGKOK
Chatuchak market is a popular place to pick up decorations, including lights and lanterns. For bridal wear, check out tailors in hotels such as Savile Row Wedding Boutique (118 Suriwongse Road, Bangkok) in the Rose Hotel. Wedding gowns there can be custom-made for just $150, says teacher Rebecca Chang, 25, who had her dress made there.

4.MALACCA
J Manik (23 Jalan Hang Lekir, 75200, Malacca, [email protected], +60-6-282-7570) on Jonker Street is famous for its kebayas and widely recommended in the Peranakan community here.

5.DELHI
South Extension and Karol Bagh are two areas in the city popular with brides for their quantity and variety of bridal wear and other wedding-related items, says Ms Mehak Sagar, 25, who runs a bridal shopping business for overseas brides. She can be reached through her website, www.bridesbypb.com

6.CALCUTTA
New Market, an area encompassing more than 2,000 shops on Lindsay Street, is home to dozens of retailers selling fine saris, costume jewellery, flowers and crystalware. Sari shops can also be found in Russell Street and Park Street.
