Move over, Psy?

Coco Lee has come up with a dance routine that she hopes will take the world by storm.

And the extra perk from doing it regularly is a toned, firm and perky behind.

The Hong Kong-American singer met the international media in Taipei last week at the launch of her mainly Mandarin album, Illuminate, and showed off her curves in a red silk peplum dress that featured a see-through skirt.

She was very excited about the music video for her first single, Co Co, which features her Co Co dance.

Lee, 38, made no bones about her age, saying she has already been in the entertainment industry for 19 years.

When praised by the master of ceremonies for her assets, she sportingly turned sideways for everyone to catch a clearer glimpse of her J Lo-worthy rear.

Later, in a one-on-one interview, she told The New Paper: "I'm so happy with the Co Co song, with the simple dance steps that everyone, young or old, guy or girl can do.

"It's like the Psy one (Gangnam Style).

"Everyone always asks me what's my secret (to having a great figure). Doing the Co Co dance regularly keeps my behind firm.

"If people have more time and are able to, I also recommend running and doing the StairMaster."

Needless to say, the Co Co dance features plenty of stylish booty-shaking.

However, in order to make dancing effective for herself, she admitted that she eats very little whenever she needs to perform.

Lee said the reason is that she can't move that well if she has a lot of food inside her.
 
Everyone called me superwoman

For example, during the recent shoot for her Stuck On You music video, which lasted more than 24 hours straight, all she had was two bananas and some chocolate.

This, she said, was enough "fuel" to last her for the entire day.

"The crazy thing is that everyone on set was calling me superwoman.

"Every shot that was taken, I had to be at my best. I was tired as hell, but I didn't look tired at all.

"I refrain from food before shoots also because I'm allergic to MSG (monosodium glutamate) and my face will break out in hives if I eat that.

"Although I keep away from lots of Chinese food, I love the chicken rice from Singapore."

Lee said that she makes sure she exercises more these days to balance out the days when she indulges in food.

Her biggest weakness is rice, she said, calling herself a rice bucket.

Said Lee: "When women go past their 20s, their metabolism slows down and it's easy for them to gain weight.

"You have to know what makes you gain weight. "If it's rice, cut out the rice, if it's sugar, cut out the sugar.

"I'm like a rubber band. I gain weight quick, but I also lose it quick. So now it's all down to exercise."

Illuminate is Lee's comeback album. The pop star has been missing in action from the Asian entertainment scene for the last four years. Two years ago, she married Canadian businessman Bruce Rockowitz - whom she had been dating for 10 years - in a lavish Jewish ceremony in Hong Kong, with Lee wearing a HK$1 million (S$160,000) wedding gown by designer Vera Wang.

But she didn't exactly turn into a full-fledged tai tai during her hiatus.

Lee performed at pre-Grammy concerts with the likes of US hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys and Stevie Wonder.

As Black Eyed Peas' female member Fergie was trying to get pregnant then, Lee said that she had stood in for her and had a wonderful time learning about stage presence from the popular group.

But inspiration hit when she was travelling through different parts of Europe and experiencing the art, culture and architecture.

Lee then knew what kind of album she wanted to make. She said: "I have so much love in my life and I'm grateful that I had these four years to spend so much time with my husband and my mother.

"It was the breath of fresh air that I needed to start all over again.

"Not everyone has all the love around them, but sometimes, music can give you that love you're looking for.

"I hope my music inspires them to stand up and say 'you know what, I don't give a ****, I'm going to start over'."

Mr Rockowitz, 54, surprised his blushing wife when he appeared at her press conference in Taipei. He even went onstage and kissed her on her lips to show his support for her latest album.

Lee took a jibe at him and called him out for having lied to her that he had to work that day.

She also told The New Paper that she was looking forward to being a mum.

"I would love to be a mum as I love kids and I have a little time left before it's too late."
