Men in Singapore are more open to dating older members of the opposite sex than women, a survey has found.
Only 47 per cent of women said yes to dating a younger guy, down from 59 per cent in 2009 and 54 per cent in 2011.
Yet 51 per cent of men said they would date older women, five per cent more than in 2011.
The findings were made in a poll of 1,900 singles from Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong conducted in January by dating agency Lunch Actually. Some 788 of these were Singaporean.
Psychologist Daniel Koh said: "Society has progressed.
Ladies understand their rights and equalities and these are extended to having equal contributions to the relationship and future, hence one has to be able to fulfil this financially and in status."
For graphic designer Mrs Ivy Tan, 38, who is married to ship management company supervisor Tan Hien Chou, 31, the age gap does not matter.
She said: "My husband is more mature than his age."
The survey also found that only about one in five women here said they would date a guy who earned less than them and only 29 per cent were willing to date those with a lower educational level.
Mr Jerald Lim, owner of dating agency One Plus One, said this is because most women would want to "maintain their current standard of living".

Well, didn't LKY set the example for the rest to follow? Why did the women in Singapore not take the cue from the late-Mrs Lee?....I actually know quite a number of men who married older ladies, although the age gap was seldom more than 2-4 years with 2 years being the norm, except for one where the wife was 10 years older than him....
The only problem that I can see maybe be that women will have menopause some as early as their late 40s, and if the men are 10 years younger or more, they may get tempted to seek sex outside....
First off, I must admit that greedy women does exist. I have a few such friends who confused my life and my trust as a friend quite often. Today they are dating A, and tomorrow they are dating B. With many excuses and backstabbing stories. It took me years to realize that they are simply after the guy's money! Worse of all, sometimes they are trying to manipulate my life.
Those 'greedy' players are not simple! They will push the guy to be more socialized, earning more and knowing how to dress up better, more educated, transforming into a much better man overall... The average guys will find it hard to learn that they are after their money. Most have thought that they have found their true girl. The saying "behind every successful man, there .....

A man gets a wife because she can give him sex, born him children on top of the companionship and for some there the extra household income the spouse brings in. And very few women would hang out with a man who is poor, has no stable income or job or social status, educated or good looks or not regardless. The saying that a couple should go through thick and thin, good and bad, poverty and wealth, doesn't sounds convincing.

1. Sexually, younger men are sexually highly active and their urge can fully sextisfy the needs of older women. Try the conventional older men - younger women, the men in the younger days will probably have to beg and force their young wives (with low sexual urge) for sextisfaction, and when the men become old, their younger wives starting to age become sexually hyper hungry and her older husband will find it hard to start solid to sextisfy her.
2. Psychologically, younger men are too lack of life experience and gets .....
