Salma breastfeeds starving African baby

SIERRA LEONE: While touring a hospital in Africa, actress Salma Hayek (below)  breastfed a week-old baby whose mother had run dry, even as stunned TV camera crews looked on.

The Mexican-born 42-year-old had been in war-torn Sierra Leone on a charity mission when she encountered a mother who could not provide milk for her malnourished son.

Without skipping a beat, Hayek – who was then breastfeeding her own year-old daughter – drew the baby to her and offered it nourishment.

"He was very hungry. I was weaning my daughter Valentina, but I still had a lot of milk, so I breastfed the baby," the United Nations Children's Fund spokesman said  later.

"Am I being disloyal to my child by giving my milk away? I actually think my baby  would be very proud to be able to share her milk."

At one point last year, the actress told the media she was addicted to breastfeeding.

Sierra Leone has the highest infant-mortality rate in the world.
