Adele wins best song Golden Globe for 'Skyfall'

LOS ANGELES - British songstress Adele returned to the awards circuit with a vengeance Sunday, collecting the best song Golden Globe for the theme tune to the James Bond blockbuster "Skyfall."

Adele, who earlier Sunday made her first red carpet appearance since giving birth to a baby boy in October, said the award was "for my boyfriend Simon who convinced me to do it, and my wonderful son."

"I wasn't expecting this," said Adele from the stage at the Beverly Hilton hotel as she collected her very first Golden Globe. "It's very strange to be here. Thank you for letting me be part of your lives."

Looking out across the ballroom floor to the table she was sharing with friends, she irreverently added: "We've been pissing ourselves laughing over there."

Adele's Golden Globe will share shelf space at home with her eight Grammys, four American Music Awards and three Brits, among a host of other honors.

Earlier, on her way into the awards gala, the 24-year-old Adele - in a matronly black frilly-neck Burberry gown - excitedly described herself as a musical outsider at a big night out for film and TV stars.

"All these people here, like characters I've come to love in films and TV ... it's very weird coming here and not being around my (music) peers," she told E! television's Ryan Seacrest.
