Mum's health just as important as baby's

JAKARTA: Second pregnancy has made actress Donna Agnesia realize that it is important to look after herself for the sake of her unborn baby.

The 30-year-old former catwalk model said pregnant mothers often risk the life of both themselves and their unborn baby by ignoring their health.

“Like other mothers, I always focus on the health of my unborn baby. However, I forgot that I must also take a good care of myself,” she told Antara, adding that having nutritious foods and drinks was just one way to keep the body fit.

Donna gave birth to her first son, Lionel Nathan Sinathrya, in June 2007 and is currently expecting her second baby.

According to the wife of the actor-cum-model Darius Sinathrya, it was an illness during her second pregnancy that made her realize the importance of eating healthily.

“During the first four months of my pregnancy, I always had morning sickness. I had nausea and threw up the whole day, so it felt like all-day sickness,” she said.

The sickness forced her to stay in hospital where she lost a great deal of weight.

“My husband always reminded me that the mother’s health is just as important as the health of the unborn baby.”

“Now my daily routine includes drinking milk formulated for pregnant mothers, eating nutritious foods and taking lots of rest. This way I can regain some 7 kilograms of my weight back,” she said.
