HOW often do you get the right combination of acting chops and curves?

British actress Kate Winslet has proven that you can have both.

The 33-year-old scored two Golden Globe awards earlier this month and could add an Oscar to that list next month.

In the meantime, she's wowing us on the red carpet at the premieres of her current movies Revolutionary Road and The Reader with body-hugging dresses that show off her voluptuous figure.

Kudos to the mother of two for proving that you don't need to be a size zero to make it in Hollywood.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, she makes no apologies for her bigger size, saying: 'I never had a desire to be famous... I was fat. I didn't know any fat famous actresses.

'I just did not see myself in that world at all, and I'm being very sincere. You know, once a fat kid, always a fat kid.'

LOS ANGELES

It was all about the legs when Winslet turned up at the Los Angeles premiere of Revolutionary Road.

Her asymmetrical black dress by Balmain showed off her long legs in satin Christian Louboutin heels.

The jewelled strap over the shoulder was the perfect finish to the look.

LONDON

Class and sophistication are usually associated with Winslet's fashion choices.

But at the Revolutionary Road premiere in London, Winslet made a bold choice with this black Narciso Rodriguez dress.

The dress' criss-crossed glossy leather top and the leather strips on the sides of the dress seemed like something usually reserved for a rock star or party starlet.

Yet, with just the right amount of cleavage, the result was sexy without being tacky.

NEW YORK

Those strappy T-bar sandals that Winslet wore to the New York premiere of The Reader seemed a little more suited to a nightclub.

But who was looking at Winslet's feet?

In her taupe Herve Leger bandage dress, all eyes were on her toned collar bones and tanned decolletage.

readers' comments
There's really no need to crave being a size zero. Kate Winslet shows it's just as glamorous to be recognised for her talent and be comfortable in her own size.
