She was an FHM cover girl after winning the FHM Girl Next Door contest in March 2009.
Now, 22-year-old model and blogger Celestina Tiew is attracting online buzz again, this time for her arrest last week for alleged drug use.
Without naming her, Lianhe Wanbao yesterday reported on the arrest at a carpark in Dakota Crescent near Old Airport Road in the early hours of last Tuesday.
A Lianhe Wanbao reader who passed by the scene said that he saw police officers with a man in his 40s who was lying on the ground next to a woman he recognised immediately as a well-known model.
The evening Chinese daily quoted another witness as saying that the police had stopped a black BMW moving in the wrong direction on a one-way street.
They searched the car and found $7,000 in cash and also at least three packets of the drugs Ice and Ecstasy.
Another man, believed to be a passenger in the car, was apparently upset that the driver had landed them into trouble and they started arguing, Lianhe Wanbao reported.
The driver's shirt was torn in the ensuing scuffle and he pushed the other man to the ground before the police finally got them under control.
The model and the two men were arrested and taken away for questioning.
According to Lianhe Wanbao, the model tested positive for drugs in her urine test.
When The New Paper contacted Miss Tiew yesterday evening, she had just been released from jail on $5,000 bail pending police investigations.
Speaking over the phone, she claimed that the Wanbao report was inaccurate, in particular about the scuffle between the two men in the car and that she tested positive for drugs.
She said that after she had dinner with a male friend at Clementi, he offered to drive her home.
Along the way, he told her that he had to meet a friend. When they arrived at the carpark in Dakota Crescent, she waited in the car while the driver met his friend.
As she and her friend were leaving the carpark, he saw a police car parked nearby and made a U-turn against the flow of traffic on the one-way street.
"The police then stopped us and told my friend to get out of the car. I was on my mobile phone and didn't really know what was happening," Miss Tiew said.
"After they questioned him, they wanted to check a paper bag that was in the car. My friend panicked and put up a struggle.
"I got out of the car and told them to stop. During the struggle, my friend's shirt was torn when the police pulled it over his head to pin him down and subdue him.
"By then, my friend's friend had shown up to try to intervene."
Miss Tiew said the officers found the drugs after searching the car and then checked her.
"I had no idea that there were drugs in the car or what was going on until the police questioned us," she said.
The three of them were then arrested.
Career ruined
When asked about her arrest, she said that she "regretted" it and that she is still waiting for the results of the urine test.
She said the other man was later released, but she was not sure whether her friend was still under arrest as she has not been able to contact him on his mobile phone.
Miss Tiew, who has been modelling and blogging since 2008 and has been featured in many print ads and television commercials, said: "I'm having a really hard time here. I just got released today and I saw the news... now my career is ruined."
When contacted by TNP, the Central Narcotics Bureau(CNB) confirmed that the police arrested three suspects for suspected drug-related activities in Dakota Crescent.
The police later handedover the suspects to CNB for further investigations.
One man has been released unconditionally.
Investigations into the other two suspects are ongoing, CNB said.
Netizens have been posting comments on Miss Tiew's public Facebook fan page as well as her Twitter account since yesterday.
On her Facebook fan page, which has close to 4,000 followers, netizen Elli Nia posted: "Cant believe it...Celestina is actually arrested for drugs..."
She has more than 3,000 followers on her public Twitter account.
While her Twitter account had been inactive since last Monday, Miss Tiew started posting on the account again after her release on Tuesday.
She tweeted: "Got so much things to do. So lil time..." around 5pm, followed by another tweet later: "I'm So Tired Of Life".
