Should Rob forgive Kristen?
by Charlene Chua

Should Robert Pattinson forgive Kristen Stewart for cheating on him with married director Rupert Sanders?

Local celebrities The New Paper spoke to fell into opposite camps.

Fly Entertainment artiste and 987FM deejay Bobby Tonelli, 36, who is currently dating actress Joanne Peh, said: “I can understand what Robert is going through.

“My first girlfriend cheated on me when we (were in) a long-distance relationship after I moved to California when I was 18, while she stayed in Las Vegas, where I’m from. “She had substance abuse issues and we broke it off after she met someone else.

“If it (cheating) happened to me again – touch wood – I would still give the person another chance because I would have to think about what I wasn’t giving her to make her have to do that.

“I believe Kristen and Rupert were lacking things in their own relationship, as cheating is more often emotional than physical.”

Tonelli revealed he has a Hollywood actor friend who has filled him in on the Tinseltown lifestyle.

According to the deejay, nights out with different partners are the norm in the industry and it was just a matter of whether one got caught.

He added: “I think it was a very smart move for Kristen to admit everything. Like this, no one can hound her on the matter any more.”

But not everyone was as forgiving as Tonelli.

Said Class 95FM deejay Glenn Ong, 42: “Should Rob forgive her? Absolutely not.

“A relationship is all about trust. You don’t just sleep with someone else.

“If you want to do that, then break up with your partner first.

“I think it’s awfully arrogant of Kristen if she thinks an apology means that she will have a chance to get back with Rob.”

Ong, who was previously married to deejays Kate Reyes and Jamie Yeo, added that it would take a very “unique” individual to be able to accept a partner’s infidelity.

“Anyway, Kristen is not that hot. She looks like a guy.

“If she were better-looking, perhaps Rob should consider taking her back for a bit longer and then dump her.”

Ong will be pleased to know that his current girlfriend, fellow Class 95FMdeejay Jean Danker, shared his view on the scandal.

But the 34-year-old – who used to date DJs Daniel Ong and Don Richmond – added: “If Rob decides to give Kristen another chance and they work things out then that’s well and good.

“I know she issued an apology to Rob.

“I thought she could have thrown in an apology to Rupert’s wife and kids as well.”

After compromising pictures of Stewart and Sanders were published by UsWeekly magazine, Stewart apologised to Pattinson in this statement: “This momentary indiscretion has jeopardised the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob.

“I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.”

But her words failed to move Class95 FM deejay Vernetta Lopez, whose marriage to DJ Mark Richmond ended in a divorce.

Said Lopez, 39: “If I were Robert, I wouldn’t forgive and I’d go out and get a tan.

“But he is too sweet and forgiving.

“So if I were Kristen (and he took me back), then I’d have to dump him for being a sucker.

“Get it? Sucker?”

But model-actress Melissa Faith Yeo felt that “everybody deserves a second chance” especially if they have been in each other’s lives for a long time.

She made the news early this year when her ex-boyfriend, actor Andie Chen, spoke about his heartbreak over their break-up.

Said Yeo, 26: “With regards to Kristen’s apology to Robert, I feel that there are so many words in the world that you can use for a situation like this.

“Although it does depend on what you say, what’s more important is the sincerity of the words.

“You can only say so much but you have to mean them. As for whether he should ‘punish’ her before he takes her back, I feel that that would be too severe.

“If I were Kristen, I wouldn’t have cheated in the first place.”

Now that Stewart could be back on the market again, Fly Entertainment artiste and host-actor George Young is biding his time before he makes his “move”.

Young, 32, said that if he were Pattinson, he would forgive his straying beau just because she happens to be Stewart.

“She’ll feel like she owed me big time so it’ll be perfect.

“What she should do to rectify the situation is whatever Robert tells her to do and if that includes dating George Young for an extended period of time... I’l do it for them.

“After all, I’m out for her blood.”
