Lady Gaga sued for $12.5m over Bratz dolls delay

The makers of the popular Bratz dolls are suing Lady Gaga for more than US$10 million (S$12.5 million).

Toymaker MGA Entertainment, which makes the dolls, names the 26-year-old US pop star, her management team and the Bravado International Group, which handles Gaga's merchandising, in the suit.

It claims that they dragged their feet on the deal, jeopardising US$28 million in expected revenue and holding up orders from 10 countries.

It also alleges that Gaga and her team caused "deliberate delays" so the toys would be ready only next year, in time for her new album and perfume launches.

It said it paid a US$1 million advance to Bravado for the dolls, which were to come with some of Gaga's colourful costumes andaudio clips of her songs.

Bravado has issued a statement calling the lawsuit "meritless".
