'Diary' has Special spot in her heart
by Tan Kee Yun

SINGAPORE - With her adorable doe-eyed looks and affable personality, it's no wonder Elanne Kwong is fast becoming one of Hong Kong's most prolific actresses.

Not only does she routinely snag roles in TVB dramas and China television productions, she also played the lead in movies like Summer Love Love last year and Love Lifting, which was released in Hong Kong in March.

And the 24-year-old has a special spot in her heart for rom-com The Wedding Diary.

She "turned down all other film offers" this month to fly to Singapore to be involved in the sequel.

Filming for The Wedding Diary II will take place here for about a week. The cast and crew then go to Malaysia to shoot for another three weeks.

"When we did The Wedding Diary, I formed some really tight friendships with the team," said Kwong, in a round-table interview with co-stars A-niu and Taiwanese actress Cynthia Wang.

"I loved the entire working process and I remember egging our director (Malaysian filmmaker Adrian Teh) on to do a sequel... Now that my little wish has really come true, I'm really excited.

Rapport

"While I haven't met A-niu in a while, our rapport instantly came back when we had to do a photo shoot... I guess we're already very used to being husband and wife."

Kwong's sizzling chemistry with her on-screen spouse was not lost on reporters.

The two bantered like old friends and regaled reporters with fun tidbits of them playing hide-and-seek and card games on their days off.

When Kwong said that she hadn't dated in more than a year, but admitted that "there is someone wooing" her, A-niu butted in, asking: "Really? Who is that guy?"

To which Kwong snapped: "None of your business!"

Has she introduced any of her gal pals to A-niu then?

With a guffaw, she tapped A-niu on the back and said: "Our Brother Niu here is so talented, I'm sure he doesn't need me to introduce girls to him. There will be plenty who admire him."
