With beautiful radiant smiles, glowing skin and bright eyes, 8 brides-to-be swished down the catwalk, looking like colorful confections in their evening gowns and frothy, ethereal bridal gowns.

They were vying for the title of Bride of the Year 2012", and the chance to win their dream wedding, organised by Her World Brides. The inaugural contest was launched in one of the magazine's bi-yearly Fabulous Weddings Show, and attracted more than 60 brides-to-be.

"We wanted to introduce a fun element and we always had bridal shows where we had models, so we thought that for a change, we should organise this so that we really have real brides-to-be. I think they really enjoyed the experience and they can actually tell themselves "Hey this is how I'm going to look in this gown, cocktail dress, or hairstyle!" and it helps them prepare for the wedding," said Diana Lee, General Manager of Fashion and Beauty at SPH magazines.

Shn Juay Shi Yun, 26, 2nd runner up in the Miss Universe 2011, won the "Bride of the Year 2012" title, and more than $10,000 in wedding packages and gifts.
