Her shocking transformation was for her role in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the hit musical, Les Miserables.

The 29-year-old US actress plays Fantine, a factory worker forced to sell her hair and later herself.

“I’m just so pleased with how I look, so I now quite like having short hair,” she told entertainment website Vulture.

Besides her new do, Hathaway also showed off her trim figure at the Stella McCartney Spring 2012 presentation dinner. She was joined by fiance, American actor Adam Shulman (above).
