THE white lacquered walls and calming eucalyptus scent of the newly opened Jean Yip Loft are a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of New Bridge Road right at its doorstep.
The noise outside is reduced to barely a whisper within the serene environment of the Loft, where lush flower arrangements abound. Once inside, visitors are greeted with specially picked music that will soothe away any trace of city stress.
This $18-million, seven-storey building - which includes a yet-to-be-opened cafe as well as a retail section on the ground floor - is Jean Yip Group's latest commitment to beauty and wellness.
Opened three months ago, the Loft is a "total Jean Yip experience under one roof", said Ms Ivy Cheong, a senior marketing executive of Jean Yip Group.
"It brings together an experience which exemplifies quality life; a means to your leisurely pursuits," she added.
Each storey of the building is dedicated to one service, catering to a customer's beauty and wellness needs from head to toe. On the fourth floor, for example, customers relax in lounge chairs while getting their nails buffed and painted. They can also have their feet massaged.
However, the jewel in the crown has to be the rooftop spa pool with jacuzzi, where an adjacent mini bar will serve drinks and finger food when it opens.
The Loft has the most treatment rooms - 23 - compared to the other outlets in the group. Among the more than 60 branches in Singapore - comprising mainly hair and beauty salons - each has about 10 to 15 treatment rooms.
The Loft also boasts the widest range of services, including Jean Yip's trademark hair treatments, which combine Western technologies with Eastern-formulated solutions. It is also home to several new services, such as foot reflexology, which is available only at the new building.
Another selling point is the Loft Signature Treatments, which are more than body massages. They include treatments for the eye, face and foot as well.
What makes the Loft stand out from the other Jean Yip branches is its range of services, which focus on relaxation and rejuvenation, said Ms Cheong.
"Jean Yip Loft is into selling lifestyle services as well as massages and services for relaxation, which most of our other branches do not offer," she said.
While the Loft is only three months old, there are already plans to develop the concept further by opening the massage and foot-reflexology services to late-night shoppers and tourists in the near future, Ms Cheong told my paper.
