TAIPEI - Hong Kong star Karen Mok is set to marry her first love in Italy in October.

The newly crowned Best Female Performer revealed this piece of good news during her acceptance speech at Taiwan's Golden Melody Awards on Saturday.

“I’m not joking. This is real. I’m marrying my first love,” she said to cheers from the audiences.

Mok, 41, got to know her future husband, a German, when she was studying in Italy at 17 years old.

According to reports, her fiance is a German finance executive and a divorced father of three.

Reports said their relationship lasted only a year and they broke up when she returned to Hong Kong.

Mok met her former flame in 2003 when she went to Berlin for filming. She was still dating Stephen Fung then.

Mok reconciled with the German in 2009 after she broke up with Fung. Her past boyfriends include actor Stephen Chow.

According to The Straits Times, the German proposed to her two months ago with a normal ring. She said he is not romantic and does not know much about her life.

Mok elaborated that she would carry on with her career and commute between Germany and Hong Kong for the time being.

As for baby plans, Mok said having a child isn't a must, the ST report added.
