FHM cover girl Melissa Faith Yeo is known for her sensual curves, but she was told to downplay her sexy image if she was serious about pursuing an acting career.
The 26-year-old commercial model, who has been offered more acting roles on local TV lately, agrees that sexiness can be a double-edged sword for local actresses.
"I'd say we (Singaporeans) are still more conservative, so the girl-next-door is usually the preferred choice," admitted Yeo during an interview with RazorTV.
But that will hardly discourage the feisty young woman from flaunting her sexuality, just to secure a lead role in local dramas.
"I believe in being myself, I don't believe in being a clone of somebody else," said Yeo, who is confident her acting talent will score her the roles.
The outspoken model-actress, who has fronted numerous ad campaigns, made it to FHM Singapore's 100 Sexiest Women in 2008 and 2009. She also set tongues wagging when she documented her breast enhancement surgery on her blog in 2009.
